One of my school friend's was working as the Food & Beverage manager for one of the famous 5-star hotels in Mumbai. As an employee of the hotel, he was given a complementary stay in the hotel for his parents. Uncle and aunty agreed to stay at the hotel for a night. But the best was yet to come.
Room - A/C room, with double bed. The floor had a comfortable carpet laid out. I am not mentioning all the facilities available in that room as my memory is failing me.
After having dinner, they decided to retire for the day. They switched off the light and lay on the bed. However, they were unable to get good sleep since it was too cold for comfort, thanks to the strong A/C. Unable to bear the cold and not knowing how to adjust the temperature, they switched off the A/C. With the temperature under control, they again tried to get a good sleep. However, they were not able to sleep. The reason was that the bed was made of dunlop and was too soft, unlike the (relatively) hard mattress that they were used to sleeping on at home. They twisted and turned, but were yet unable to get sleep. After much trepidation and deliberation, they worked out an alternative - a simple yet effective one. They got down from the bed and slept on the floor, with the carpet providing the much desired comfort. And they slept peacefully till next morning.
After that incident, uncle decided never to stay in a 5-star (no wonder their room occupancy is so less) ;-) And, if for any reason, he would have to stay in a 5-star, he decided that he wouldn't bother sleeping on the bed. Rather, he'd sleep on the carpet and ensure a sound sleep.
What is your frst experience of having stayed in a 5-star?

How i agree with uncle and aunty..I am unable to sleep on the mattresses or use their ultra soft pillows..and end up either sleeping on the floor or waking up with an aching back.
